Re: hard to start

didn't ready anyone else say this, but smell your oil. If it has some gas in it then you most likely have a leaking injector or some cylinders not firing.

Re: hard to start

The fuel pressure does not change after being primed. It sits a 44psi. At idle its at 36psi then jumps to 43 psi when I reved it up. Then back down to 36psi. When I turned the car off, the pressure was at 34psi.

The oil does not smell like gas, checked that too. Drove the car and it still stumbles on acceleration.

Re: hard to start

Might want to try scanning it for codes. Not all codes turn on the SES light.

Did you follow up on possible problems with the coolant temp sensor?

No I did not. Should I just replace it? Doubt the sensor has ever been changed.

Just wondering, how could the temp sensor cause these types of problems?

Re: hard to start

The PCM needs an accurate coolant temp number to fuel the engine. It has to know when the engine is cold, so it can set the richer cold start A/F ratio. If the PCM thinks its colder than it really is, its going to try and start it too rich. Then if the coolant temp starts to rise, and the PCM doesn't know it, its going to get even worse.

I never recommend replacing parts without checking them - I call it "parts replacement roulette", and I can assure you - you will always lose.

Or if you have access to a scanner, or scanning software, you can simply look at the coolant temp sensor reading, and see if it makes any sense.
