Hard Start

Alright, this has happened a few times now and has me stumped. Every once in a while, I'll roll the car over a couple times and then tap the gas in anticapation of a start. Problem is it dosen't start on that try and what follows is mystifying. I have to crank the hell out of the car to get it started and it only starts while holding the pedal to the floor. Once it starts its really rough untill it passes about 2500 rpms. Every time this happens I'm on my way to school or work so theres not an opertunity to let it sit and see if it helps. I haven't noticed any other symptoms and there seems to be no other factors as far as weather or parking angle.

Has anybody had this problem before? Is this possibly my Optispark starting to crap out? I dont freakin know and since its a fairly rare I'm not that concerned......yet. Anyway, any help as always would be apreciated.

About twice a year I have the same thing. It acts like it's flooded, but the car has set for 2 days before starting. I don't tap the gas in anticipation of it starting, but I do have to hold the pedal to the floor to get it too start (after much cranking). I haven't found the cause either since it happens so rarely. I've speculated that it could be the carcoal canister dumping fuel into the system but you would think it would happen more often if this was the case.

Mine used to take 4-5 seconds to start but after replaceing the ignition coil it took about a second and half. You can get one for $20 at an auto parts store. I would try that first.
