Sometimes when I start the car for the first time during the day, it makes a loud noise and it feels like something hits some other thing very hard, the whole car shakes and after that, it starts and works normally. What could be happening?

 

Is it auto or manual? Where does the noise sound like its coming from? More info needed.

 

its an A4, but it seems to have something to do with the engine, not so much the tranny. The sound definitely comes from the engine, but more than the sound, it's the big jump that you feel when you start the car. Imagine something is stuck together and you have to unstick it, you'll pull very hard and when it suddenly unsticks, a yank will be felt.
