Car just turned off

wierd. just cruisin in my neighborhood at like 18 mph and the car just died. finally get it running good again and wham-o, surprise surprise car takes an even fatter ****. what could cause this? the lights and all were still working just the rpms dropped to 0 and the car just rolled to a stop and i slowly lost power steering while rolling (after the motor had died).

Is it with the clutch in or out (engaged or not). If it is engaged then I'm not really sure. If it is when you disengage it then I'd say your IAC valve is shot or it could be fuel related as in your filter or pump. First clean the TB out and change your fuel filter, then I'd worry more.

It's the ignition switch. That happened to me while cruising at 70 coming back from Florida. Look at the thread from SuperFly95Z.

does it crank? if its does then that would rule out the ignition switch.

May be a loose ground wire on the coil.

If you have an afermarket ignition box (like msd or crane), it could be taking a dive.

It still does it, only seems to do it while turning to the left though :/ after it dies i take the key out, put it in again and starts right up. when it dies the SES and check gauges light comes on. However one time the motor didnt die, just that the rpms in the dash dropped to zero and the mph seemed to be ok. Could it be a bad connection from the battery to the fuse box?

get the car scanned to see what the codes are. you might have to go to a dealership just to have them pull codes since autozone seems to have a problem with 95 F-bodes... newer diagnotics connector but older computer so they get confused.

now that you say that, it does sound like a bad connection to the coil or the connection to the opti, the little wiring harness. Definitely check all of that first. If the engine was still spinning, that was because the clutch was out, but the rpm's dropped because the computer wasn't getting a reading from something. The engine wasn't really running, just turning over from the clutch and forward momentum of the car. Definitely ignition though. It also could be the ignition module. Lots of ifs, but its probably not too bad, since the car runs fine then dies. Your opti still sounds ok.

if its a bad connection he may not get any readings, unless the computer stored them, then he may be in luck. You know how it goes, when you want it to happen it won't no matter how hard you want it to.
