Hal shock install questions and tips.

Im going to be installing the Hal Qa1 shocks soon and had a couple questions. I read Fred's guide so I have a pretty good idea on to do most of the work.

1. Do I need to modify the spring seat if Im using both the Hal shocks and springs?
2. Are there any tips and tricks you guys have discovered before I set out to do this?

1. Hal springs are smaller in diameter and don't need the stock spring seats-so no modifying necessary.

2. I think Fred covers most everything in his write-up.

The ride height adjustment is really hard to do (tight - binding) unless you either put antisieze grease between the washer and the adjustment ring or place a bearing above the adjustment ring.

No modification required, the HAL springs fit perfectly on the HAL shock retainers. I was just using grease on the threads and ring, took the spanner wrench and gradually compressed the spring.
Some notes to Freds write-up:
Forget the lower balljoint, just separate the upper joint, it's much easier. Unbolt the nut, and tap it with a hammer. Be ready to catch the spindle if you have not removed the caliper...
It's a pretty straightforward project IMHO.

I found that greasing the threads didn't help, the thin washer that sits on top of the adjustment ring binds against the adjustment ring; grease this interface and adjustment is now easy.

QA1 has a roller thrust bearing that can replace the thin washer. It should make adjustments a lot easier.

I'd make sure to use the thin roller bearings. This will make it easier to turn.
