A good cam and head kit on a stock short block can easily run mid/low11's. A good cam only car can get 12's. A good N/A engine can get you 10's. All of the options, with exception of the last one, are less money to build and tune than a bolting on supercharger kit to a stock engine. They will also be more reliable, assuming that it was built correctly. Blower cars are sweet, don't get me wrong, but it seems (according to your post) that you don't have the budget for a properly set up one. Blowers are best saved for cars that have a budget for a forged short block and more than a few hours of tunning time.

i was going to spend 2800 for everything. and with the supporting mods that a cam needs its about the same even if i went with an le1 setup and that would only be 370 rwhp and blower at 8 psi probaly 420 rwhp but i dont want to blow the motor so i gues ill have to think about it thanks for all our opinions

I've always said this and I'll say it again; With the stock compression of the LT1 at ~10.5 it is not worth running a supercharger at ~6psi. You will end up spending more, you see around the same power gains as a stout H/C combo and you're at risk blowing up the engine. Now, if you were going to do a forged/low CR short block then I'd say boost the hell out of it. But stock LT1s were not made for boost.

i would go with boost. just dont get carried away with it, and know that a rebuild will be coming. i was in the same situation, le1 heads/cam or boost. i bought my procharger used on here with injectors and some upgrades what not for $2000...so its really not that expensive considering you put it on yourself. plus down the road you can just slap a different pulley and up the boost, a s/c is just more capable in the long run.

I could be wrong, but I believe that would be the 3.3 inch blower pulley with the 6 inch crank pulley.

If you're buying a new kit, ProCharger can spec a pulley size. But, on a stock LT1 engine, you're looking at a s/c pulley size around 3.25" for 6-7lbs. of boost.

i was going to go w/ boost on my car, but then i was concerned about the bottom end. im now going with H/C, and maybe a little spray once in a while...i guess its all what you want though...like everyone else has said if your going boost, make sure you start saving up for the bottom end!

but also...if you do blow the bottom end, and you do have the money to fix it...you will be ahead with already having the charger...then you could boost the **** out of it....so idk
