guys with ported heads& xe 230/236 what stall are you runnin
Ive been having a horrible time with my car. I put down 394 hp at the wheels at 6300 and 365 lb.ft at 4500rpm. I go to the track and only get a 12.6 at 107. Last week my buddy scanned the motor and he said it was running just fine. I think the problem is in the converter. its a vig 3200-3400 but its only flashing at 3000 rpms. I think they sent me the wrong one. Do you think a new converter will wake the car up or do you think something else is wrong. It seems like when i hit 3rd the car almost has nothing more. I cross the finish line at only 5000 rpm. oh and 3.42 gears. I'll listen to any suggestions. thanks guys
What rpm are you shifting at?
I shift at 6700rpm and I have 3.23s. (Max power on dyno at 6200 rpm)
I doubt its the converter.
I have a 3200 stall and I think its a bit much.
The XE 230/236 builds great mid range power.

i have same cam same gears same prob.
but i have 2500 stall. after i redo my exhoust i'll go 3.73 thats what i'd suggest. i may be an idiot but it feels to me that i need more power to overrun the stall at high speeds or lower gears
anyone else have ideas

Are you sure you crossing the line at 5000?
I know when I had my 3.42's in I was crossing the line at 5800, now with my 3.73's I'm at 6200.
I'm using a Yank ST3500, I'm thinking of going to a non-lock 4000 for my next converter.

stall?
My friend is about to put the cam in his car, and I think that he is purchasing a 2500 rpm stall.
Is this too little of a stall?
At crusing speeds, he'll be around 2200 rpms, and he'll still be under stall flash, so I though that 2500 would be to high, but from what I'm reading, most people say that 3000 should be the minimum.
Seems like 3000rpm stall is overkill for the street, but I don't know. I have the m6 in mine.
What do yall think?
Thanks
D Moss
