This guy wants to trade me, thoughts?
I got a PM on a local car site yesterday from a guy who is interested in trading his 99 mustang gt (bolt ons, Allen Supercharger) for my car, a H/C (LE1) stalled auto 94 Z28. Here is the link to the craigslist ad

Thoughts? Tried selling my car for $5500 a while back but got no interest. I figure, should his car be clean, I could sell it and pick up a cheap auto ls1 and shoot for 11s on the cheap.

That's a hard one. If it were lower miles on the car I would say go for it since mustangs sadly sell easier then our fbodies. I really can't say what I would do since it is higher miles on the car.
If it were lower I would go for it and first try to sell it as is and if I wasn't able to get out of it what I wanted then I would put it back to stock as much as possible, sell the parts, and then try to resell the car.
Good luck either way.

I personally wouldnt do it. Last year i posted my car up for sale for 10K and had a guy out of town jump on it. When it came time to make the deal the guy backed off. IDK what mods you have on ur Z but i'm sure its worth the 5500 you were asking. and From what i hear here in TX the price of LS cars is going down and LT cars are on the rise. Thats just what I hear. IDK if its true.
I think its easy to make power with any GM motor vs. a Ford motor. A friend of mine has a 2001 GT Moded and it runs 14's and feels slugish My car had the same mods but GM and it ran High 12's to low 13's and dynod higher than the Mustang.
As the owner of both a 1995 Z/28 and a 1999 Mustang GT, I can tell you that they are two totally different cars. If all you are wanting is outright power and performance for minimum mods, then an LS1 is the way to go. The PI 4.6s are not bad motors at all, but it does cost some coin to get them much past 350-400 RWHP reliably.
With that said, IMHO the Mustang is the most fun-to-derve car I have ever owned, and I don't think taking a straight-line pass in a buddy's car will ever convince anyone of this. I was skeptical when I bought mine, but after a couple days of driving it, I was hooked. Yeah, your first impression will be that it's slow, but I got over that real quick. Mustangs just beg for you to take them out and beat the ever living crap out of them, and they sound good doing it too. Plus I receive a million compliments about the Mustang every day, compared to about 3 total in the 4 years I've owned the Camaro.
So really, it's up to you. If I were in your position, I would probably make the trade and then post the Mustang for sale as soon as Spring rolls around. This is assuming that it runs great and is still in overall great shape. Plus you have to think about the fact that you will probably not have another chance to get anything approaching $5,500 for your car, regardless of what it should be worth. When I sold mine I found out that out, and learned that sometimes it's best to take what you can get. Plus you ought to be able to get $7,000 or so for the Mustang.

Nothing too exciting happened. Drove back to Kansas City from Columbia Saturday to meet up with him. We had set up a time but he had trouble getting out of work until after dark. We post poned until Sunday but the guy never picked up his phone. I wasted gas to get there as well as my time and the time of a friend who knows mustangs that i asked ot come along.
