gutted cat probs?

I have the cat gutten on my 94, and I never really noticed any difference, but the cat was broken, so it was easy. I read on here earlier how unless you get a straight through pipe, the air will become too turbulent, and thus actually rob you of power. Is is true? And if so, would it be worth the straight through? Thanks.

I have had my cats gutted for over 2 years. No problems, I didn't notice any difference in power either. Just a louder exhaust tone, not deeper, just louder. I can't think of any negative things about gutting them except for the environment. Wheter its a straight pipe or cat, I don't think it really matters. There is only one way for the exhaust to flow, and that is outwards, so on a 500hp monster I can see worrying about the turbelance in the exhaust, but not on a stock or bolt-on engine.

I have a Magnaflow cat back to go with my gutted cat. It sounds great! I was just wondering based on a thread I read earlier. Thanks!
