I could see buying a set that you personally knew of and that maybe had only a few thousand miles on them. But 49k on a set off Ebay? No way. Buying used gears at all is risky, IMO.
The cost associated with getting them set up makes it a poor investment.

Do not buy those gears. Never buy used gears unles you know the guy selling them, or can see and inspect them in person. The only place you would be able to buy used gears from would be at a local shop. Sometimes they have a set of gears that they had and took off a car. But I would suggest just buying new gears.

$100 is a drop in the bucket on what it will cost you if you grenade the rear because of those gears which "looked" OK. Even if you don't grenade the rear the cost involved with having to do the install twice once you find out those gear whine like hell makes it a no brainer. NO USED GEARS, ever.

You might check with DTS in Mich. or Ring and Pinion in Seattle. They sell new stuff, but they also do the work and might have some good used stuff at decent price. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell you crap.JMHO

stupid question. the ebay thing said:

"these are 7.625 or 7 5/8" not 7.5 or 7 1/2" gears will fit all 7.5, 7.625 housings."

what? will the 7 5/8 gear work on 7 5/8 AND 7 1/2, or will the 7 1/2 gear work on both carriers?

when i look up gear on summit, they only show one p.n. for both types of carriers. ig i go to jeg's, they don't even mention 7 5/8 gears.

what's the deal? are both of these interchangable or what?
