Which Guideplates To Buy ? ***Problem with my ISKY's***

I have a set of Isky adjustables on the car now.

However after fixing a slight exhaust leak at the header, it became clear that there is slight ticking coming from under the valve covers as well.

My pushrods are actually bottoming out (Touching the bottom part of the U on the guideplate) and touching, causing a ticking sound.

I have them slid down as far as they can go. I don't want to just start taking them all out and hitting them with a grinder if I dont have to. I would rather buy a set that won't need modified, aligns the rockers well over the valve, and will bolt right in. The adjustable ones are a big pain in the dick to get to stay in place as you TQ the rocker studs down (As they are slotted to accomodate for various set ups.)

So that said, which guideplates WILL work with a LT1 since it is very slightly different from standard SBC set up. And which ones are the best (Best fitment/roller tip alignment)

I do not want to buy another set, only to find, they too, will need to be ground down deeper.

I cant believe these rub. I have a fairly common set up. Comp Pro-Mags 1.6's, 7/16" ARP Studs, a BRE Custom Grind that is on the stock base circle diameter, lift is .60X at the valve with 1.6's though ..., based on an XFI lobe.

Luckily my pushrods are fine (Comp Hi-Tech's).

So spit it out guys, what are my best options ?

After having problems with my GMPP guideplates, I've now switched to Trickflow guideplates. Part # 30400623-8

So far so good, they alighn my rockers just as well as the GMPPs did, and they're hardened unlike the GMPPs....

Just curious, is your cam close in lift to mine? Same ratio rockers? I might have to look into this ... Where'd you get them at ?

My lift is .593 with my 1.52 comp pro mags. I'm also running 7/16 studs. Rocker ratio shouldn't have anything to do with centering them over the valve though.

I did plenty of research before I bought them. They are the same part # as what trickflow runs on their regular SBC heads, which made me think at first that they wouldn't work on stock LT1 castings.....but it turns out that when Trickflow designed their SBC heads, they used the same valve spacing as LT1s have from the factory!

So these things work perfectly. I don't have any pics at the moment, but I'd be happy to pull one of my valve covers tonight and snap a pic so you can see for yourself. I got them at summit btw, they were $25.70 after their "handling fee"

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I was just curious the ratio because it could pull the pushrod closer to the guideplates with different ratios ...

I think I am going to go ahead and get a set though ... Mine are ****. It pisses me off lol

No prob

And just FYI, I know what you mean about pulling the pushrod closer with 1.6s, but trust me, there's plenty of room with these. I bet there's 3/16" before mine bottom out, plenty of room for clearance with 1.6s

I've got the Trickflows on my setup too. They're working great so far.

TrickFlows here also, and near perfect alignment. Just push the guide plates down while you tighten.

Trickflows here too but, I just added 1.7 scorpions. They line up good but were close, touching close so I notched them a little deeper. No big deal.

Well guys, I just ordered a set of Trickflows so I'll have them here tomorrow or Monday at the very latest. Convienently, I am off next week so I will have the car up and running again sooner than expected...

Now as long as these things ARE spaced correctly for an LT1 ... I should be good to go.

Thanks Guys!

Appreciate it ...

I did the same.
I hope these work out better.

Actually, I purchased two sets by mistake so I'll be selling the spare set soon LOL

Trickflows here, too. Same components as you with ~.600 lift.

Reading this thread makes me happy that I went with the Trickflows. I was a little un-easy about running the Comp guide plates and regular hardened pushrods, so I switched to the trickflow guides and one piece Hi-tech pushrods. I feel better...

I was wondering if you have 7.05" or shorter pushrods? With GMPP guideplates and 7.05" pushrods I'm barely clearing the bottom of the slot. This is half the reason I'm going with 7.30" pushrods. You can search up my posts on mid-lift if you are curious.
