Guide Plate Question

I'm swithcing to the Comp Pro Mag NSA rockers so I need to buy guideplates. I read that the comp guide plates wil not fit and to use the GM 20-1401051 guide plates. Are those the correct guide plates? Also since my car is a 93 I should already have hardened pushrods correct??

Re: Guide Plate Question

Those are the correct guide plates GM PN 1401051.

Not 100% sure if your guideplates are hardened but if you are running a aftermarket cam and spring then a upgraded pushrod would be a really good idea.

They "fit", but don't align the pushrods as well as the GM plates do.

You didn't say what springs you have, or the seat pressure, but since your
moving to NSA RRs, you will want to get hardened, or maybe cromemoly?

The number is 14011051 and you are correct, these will correctly line up.

Here is the correct part to use:
http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/perfpart...322&section=ep

These will keep the rockers directly centered and not cause an
offset alignment.

What seems to be the rationale is that the Comp plates (and others) are a common SBC design. The LT1 valve spacing is slightly different.

Hmmmm... I was always under the impression the LT1 head was nothing more than a traditional "D" port SBC head w/ reverse cooling.
Is there any kind of links or anything that can be supplied so I can do more research?
