Does this sound right i talked to the shop today and he said they sent him the wrong guide plates again. He said that they sent him guide plates for non-self aligning rockers is he bull sh* me or do they make different guide plates for our LT1's.He also said he was getting them thru a GM dealer can you? i think he's playing games now.....He's only had the car since AUG 11th of 2002 now its April 3 2003 and he said that is his only thing holding him up.....

Guideplates are for non-self aligning rockers. You don't need them for self aligning.

He's just trying to find an excuse for taking so long... Theres not two different styles. You could use guideplates on self aligning rockers but there would be no need.

If he uses the guideplates and you still are using stock pushrods, you may have a problem.

Guidleplates are used to keep the pushrods and the rockers aligned properly.

When using guideplates, you need to use hardened pushrods because they will rub against the guideplates. However, i dont know if any friction between the guideplates and pushrods will occur with self aligning rockers becuase i dont know how stable the actually are. Personally i wouldnt want to take the risk, and just skip the guideplates. They will not give you any gain.

It is not bad that he is using them, they can be used, just that it is not really necessary with self-aligning rockers. The fact that he is using this to hold up getting your car is not a good thing. The thing is, you can get guideplates anywhere. It's not like they are scarce or anything.
