Is the ground clearnace with Jet Hot LTs really that bad?

I know, I know another stupid header question. But I did a search and noone asked exactly the same question lately.

I am just about ready to get some headers for my 97 ta. I had bbk shortys on my 94 z28 and was disapointed in the performance. As big of a PITA as headers are to install on our cars I want to feel a difference. Thats my new motto with this car. If I can't feel a difference then I don't want it.

Anyway, back to my question. I got the ta because I didn't feel like swapping a six speed into my Z and I want to do some road racing or autocrossing so I will be lowering the car and it is my daily driver. Before I got into f-bodys I was into mini trucks so I know how bad it sucks to scrape on everything in the road and I don't want to do that again. So how bad is the ground clearance with Jet hot lt's on lowered cars? anyone have pics?

Your headers scrape during hard braking??? Also, did you say your car is NOT lowered?

will62085...if your headers really scrape during heavy braking, your car's handling must really suck big time! It sounds like you could use some new springs and struts.

I have the jethot lt's and I hardly every scrape them. And even if I do, it takes a pretty big slope to hit them. Also, my car isn't lowered.

i have them with true duals and i have no problems. i drive over speed bumps everyday in my apartment parking lot and they dont hit unless i go to fast. whoever scrapes on hard braking has problems other than longtubes. saying they have a problem with scraping is something guys say to justify their poor decision to buy shorties. get longtubes and never look back. find a shop that will fab up duals too. i think most people have a probelm with the ypipe scraping.

I have jet-hot lt's and a 2" drop with the eibach sportlines. The headers have not scraped on anything yet although my true duals do sometimes. Just take the correct angle on those sloped curbs and you'll be fine.

i have a 97 SS M6 and sport line springs, it sits LOW. the headers themself have never scraped, but my y-pipe does, its a 4" flowmaster/ mufflex? says flomaster on it. scrapes on speed bumps, or other big lumps in the road. i fly around like a nut and never scrape it. I have about 2" or so of clearance

I've taken my car over speed bumps and even my y-pipe hasnt scraped and its only about 3.5" off the ground. The LTs I doubt even come close to scraping. It wont be too much of an issue because i never plan to lower my car ever.

It kinda depends on the condition of the roads in your home state as well.
I live in Johnson County, one of the richest counties in the country ( I sure have not seen any of that money though ) the roads I have to admit are excellent.
I take a trip to Missouri though and the roads suck and I scrape sometimes, the mufflers though not the headers. There is one road in belton that all the businesses on one side of the road all have a down hill entrance with a little lip and then down, I can,t even think about going to any of these places in my Z it gets high centered, and that was before I put the LTs in.

I had my stock exhaust still on minus y pipe when i installed my driver side header. the stock cat sat just a hair lower than the header. you wont have any more problems than you would with the stock exhaust.
