Re: grinding sound

Sounds like you're having a similar problem to me. I've got a slipping tranny on my 94Z28, A4. It makes grinding noises when I'm not soft on the throttle in 1st and another grinding when 2nd hits. If I have to drive the car I drive it very smooth so as not to agitate the transmission. What did you have done to your tranny? I was going to have my fluid drained and refilled but the previous owner didn't take care of it so well and I figured it was too late to drain the fluid and shavings which are the only things holding my transmission together right now.

Re: grinding sound

I do believe my 3-4 clutch packs are gone too. I remember trying to drag race my buddy's 87 firebird and I wound up losing because my gears wouldn't catch until I bounced off the rev limiter. It was so embarassing losing to a third gen, but his car broke down later that night, we eventually got it going again, though. I figured it was better to face humiliation than have my transmission sitting in the middle of the road.
