Great!! p300 on 96 camaro lt1
After running scan at local chevy service shop my camaro is getting p300. we norrowed it down to a misfire on cylinder 1. been puttering for about 3 months. The service shop wants a little over $2000 to correct the issue.
they stated that the water pump is leaking and seems to be the culprit. I have had the opti repaired about 5 months ago with sometype of bonding metal stuff. Which worked for a short time. Well I can't afford their heavy price. After reading some posts here on this site I noticed that some experincing the same issue. I'm looking for some advice on the order that i should start troubleshooting. My car has been maintained from day one and has 91,??? milles on the OD. Any help would be appreciated for a newly married couple loking to save some money.

What kind of plugs and wires are you running? With the engine running look under the hood in the dark and look for any obvious arcing around cylinder 1, assuming that is where the problem is. Did you use a scan tool with enhanced GM parameters?
if the water pump is leaking it needs to be replaced, but could be a do it yourself job, the opti can be done also its a little more involved though. did you say you put metal bond somewhere in the opti? or the water pump?
I will look at it tonight. I had the scan ran at the chevy dealer. so i would "assume" they would have.
The mechanic put it on the opti because they stated it had like some amazing arcing. That seemed to have corrected the issue for a short time. At that time they stated all the plugs and wires were fine. Should I get a gm water pump or is there another that I should consider? I guess that i am going to need to replace the opti aswell.

The pump depends on you really, if you wanna save money i would buy an autozone pump or something similar, GM pump would probably be of a little better quaility, but is gonna prolly be double the price. If the pump is leaking it could be messing the opti up, my brothers car did almost the same thing yours is doing and changing the pump fixed his problem....but your opti may be done for so it would probably br good to change it out, if thats wat is causing your problem
