Granatelli MAF - Worth the $$$

Doing some bathroom reading (summit racing catalogue) and I notice the Granatelli MAF for LT1's claims 45% more air flow, resulting in 10 - 15 additional RWHP. Anybody running one of these? Is it actually making that much power?

I got one cheap a long time ago and have used it since. I'm also dyno tuned with it. The reasons I got it are: 1) it's lighter and 2) it's plastic so it does not heat soak. It has also worked just fine for me. But as you can see from the other replies, most think they are a POS waste of money. I don't think it's hurting me in any way.

It's been awhile, but are you referring to the so-called MAF Translator? I thought that that thing just lied to the PCM, telling it that there was more air flowing than their actually was----in which case the PCM would add more fuel. But I also assumed that the computer along with the 02s would figure out that it was not accurately providing actual air flow and negate any gains by adding the correct amount of fuel---in which case their would be no long-term gains.

Then again, I may not have it right. It's been awhile. JMHO

What about buying the plastic maf ends and installing them on a stock descreened maf? Any benefit to going to the SLP 85mm maf?

Also who makes them and where can I buy some?

Guys who tune PCM's often opt for a stock MAF as it allows them to tune your car better...

Agree with all above. I've had one and it wasn't worth the money. Additionally, if you decide to get more extreme with your motor you'll probably end up going back to stock to get the best tune.

I bought one about 2 years ago. Made my Service Engine Soon light come on. Code: Left bank lean. I returned it. Went back to my stock MAF. No problems.
