I already asked my dyno tuner and he said that he has no problem tuneing with these things. He knows how to tune cars really well, especially LT1's cause he has a few. My stock maf sensor is bad, one of the wires broke, so im considering getting either a granatelli or jet or something. I figure they flow a few more cfm than stock and they dont get heat soaked like the stock metal ones do, so it might be worth a little. That and im pretty much upgradeing everything on my car, over time, to handle more hp. What are your guys' opinions on these things. I know most of you hate them and say that they are horrible for tuneing, but since my stocker in no longer good, i figure i might as well.

Alot of people say they are worthless. I can't really say as I've been using one for 7 years and the car is now a 385. I've done alot of tuning but since the Granateli has always been there, I haven't really thought much about it. Car runs great and makes excellent power. (pulls 125mph on the motor, NA) So, I give it a thumbs up.

That "few more cfm" is worthless. It can already flow enough cfm for the engine. If the engine needs roughly 600 cfm, and stock flows more than that so why get even more? I would not worry about heak soaking since the intake manifold would heat the air up anyways. In my mind, it is a waste of money.

I have used mine for almost a year now with no problems. I am about to switch back to the stock one for my tuner though, I guess its harder to tune with those installed ---

I think hes talking about forced induction.
I can get one for about the same price as a used stock maf sensor so money is not an issue.
I plan on building a 383 in the future so its going to flow a few more cfm than stock. If thats not enough then i'll through a blower on top of that. At what hp do maf sensors not work anymore. I know some superchared applications dont have maf sensors but i dont know what they use instead. I havent done enough research because im nowhere near makeing that much hp.

Ok, to further support my claim that ported maf's are bad.
A member on here made almost 800hp with a blower throw the stock, unscreened, unported maf.
Second, your 383 is not going to be exceding the need for air with a stock. Let me prove it to you. http://www.geocities.com/scwizzo/equations.html (a site for referance) A 383 is going to use realistically 530 cfm. (i used 6000rpm as max rpm) The stock maf is 3.5" in diameter, but narrows down so I'll say 3" at the very center. For every square inch of surface area, an opening can flow 115 cfm. Surface area of the maf at center is roughly 7" squared. 7x115=805.
It is more than you will probably ever need.
There is no set hp limit at which maf sensors stop working.
