What timing chain?

I am getting ready to do a cam swap on my 96 LT1, and I don't know what kind of timing chain to use. The only one I have seen is the GMPP one for $250, I was wondering if there is another company that makes one for cheaper with the same if not better quality. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: What timing chain?

If you are using an electric water pump, use the Cloyes 9-3145 double roller. Little clearancing needed on the timing cover, no big deal, and it's $79

You could always try to give Jason or Dal a call, they may be able to get it for you a little cheaper. I lucked out, I just snagged a whole LT4 timing set last week for 50 bucks with very little miles on it.

Re: What timing chain?

I wasnt gonna do an electric waterpump, but it would come out cheaper to do an electric w/p and a double roller.

I say elec. w/p and true double roller. If not just get a new chain from Thunder Racing and use the stock sprockets. You could also get the oversized sprocket while your at it to help with the timing chain slack.

Re: What timing chain?

u will more than likely come about maybe just a little cheaper with an electric and true double roller. CSI/CSR pumps used to be carried by summit 4 130ish+ 79.00 4 the timing chain= 210 total
