got whooped

the other night i got spanked by an 01 SS, my car is a 95 z28 with about 126,000... i thought it would be a closer race but he beat me by 3 or 4 carlengths we both spun on the start but when he hit third he was gone! my car is all stock except a flow catback. his car had an air lid and cutouts. what worried me was i raced my boss in his 2002 bullit mustang with a procharger (roughly 455 hp) and he didn't beat me but a hair more than this ss did....is it possible i've lost horsepower because of the milage? should it be time for a rebuild? any help would be appreciated

Red face

LT1 with a catback will lose to an LS1 every time unless the LS1 driver really blows

You are way out powered by at least 70 at the crank. You might have even pulled on him out of the gate, if you hooked with the low-end TQ, but once on the move it is no surprise that you would come in 2nd.JMHO

Btw your boss either can't drive or gave up after he got so far away.

why a supercharger thats the last thing you want on a stock LT1

why rebuild? sounds like you have a healthy LT1. You've got a lot more miles left on that badboy..

heads, cam, headers, nitrous.

i don't know trey...126K isn't what i'd call "low miles".

i'd agree with the h/c instead of the SC.

just go for a moderate cam, ported lt1 heads, headers and a custom tune.

and to make sure you can put it to the ground...drag radials and maybe some gears....

who the hell said it was low? I just said he still had plenty of life in it. theres no reason for a rebuild if its still working fine

I'd say your Boss wasn't wanting to "Rub it in". No offense but a newer 99+ GT that has roughly the same HP as the LT1 cars add a procharger to the mix...

The SS race was about right. Thats about normal due to the circumstances.
But the Bullit I think he was being nice, or needs to learn how to drive

Well if you have 8k around sure buy a D1 and stroke to a 396.

Or you could spend .7-1k on the best N20 sytem be in the 11s. Blow it up then rebuild. Also could spenk 1k on some bolt ons all you need is a convertor/gears and full exhaust. then LS1s will be a thing of the past.

combination motorsports, AI, lloyd and my buddy would be the only people I'd really give my heads to. SStroker ace too if he does LT1 heads
