Got some new times with 3.73's

I have a 93 Formula, 6 speed with a vortech T-Trim stock pulleys and a 9:1 355. I had a problem launching my car with 3.23's. It has a 1994+ six speed which is meant for at least 3.42's. It would either bog or spin... no in between.. best before tonight was a 7.96 @ 93mph

Kelly put a set of 3.73's and I had a chance to try them out tonight.

1.73 60'
7.57 1/8th ET
95.39 MPH

When have you ever heard of a small gear change like that help take off 1/2 a second in the 1/8th? This thing kicks some *** now!!

The car's only suspension mod is a set of LCA brackets. Its on a spec stage 3, richmond 3.73's and BFG 17' drag radials. It drives like a factory car with a small comp cam 210/220 @ .050 .510/510 lift cam. Its still 355 CID 9:1 compression and i'm using the lowest boost pulley I have for my vortech T-Trim Aftercooled. The pulley is actually so big its cutting into my upper radiator hose!!!

Its also full weight.. nothing at all has been removed. Still has all its seats, a/c cruize, etc.

Oh its also still on the stock 10 bolt!

man I"m really happy with this car right now!!!

Not surprising at all. Sounds like the car is spending more time in its power peak where it should be.

The rule of thumb is "keep throwing gear at it till it slows down and back up one"

Re: Got some new times with 3.73's

Nice gain from only the gears. I would like to see what it would do with 3.42's. My old combo similar to yours, daily driver full weight T/A, with a Hotcam kit, stock 3.23's, 2800vig and a 150shot ran 1.70 60' on drag radials but 7.40@98 1/8th and 11.40@122mph with stock heads. I am glad n2o isn't so finicky about gear it likes a high gear. Later Clint

Re: Got some new times with 3.73's

Nice gains, I have a set of 3.73's waiting to go in as well. I hope to see some decent gains from them, although I doubt I'll drop .5 in the 1/8.
