Got shakedown passes with 383 w/ le2 package

Had 560 miles on the new motor/built tranny. It's a 383 with the le2 package, built 4l60e with a 3600 yank and the rest of the supporting mods that were on my old setup(see sig).

First pass, I launched HARD, spun bad, looked like this...

1.91 60ft
12.11 at 115.47

Second pass, I rolled into it since it was cold out and it didn't hook the first pass....

1.64 60ft
11.78 at 115.6

I was VERY happy with how the car ran. I was running the 255/50/16 drag radials, base tune, lifting at the top of 1st so I didn't hit stall wall(which I need fixed), and shifting at less 5900 from 1-2 and 2-3. Then I only hit 5500 in 3rd and my converter locked and bogged me to 3900 before the traps. I should be shifting at 6500+ and the converter shouldn't lock until at least 6400, but I have the shift points set down for break in. I know it has a lot more in it. I should be dyno'ing this week, and then seeing what it will do on the bottle next week if the track is open. I'm wanting some 11.5x's on the drag radials on motor this weekend. Also I'm shooting for a 10.99 on spray and drag radials, which is going to be hard, but hell I needed a goal.

Nice nice, those LE packages seem to make some nice nice times I plan on something similar in the future.

Mind if I ask what it cost you to get the 383 assembled including parts?

I bought the motor complete from a friend who had it built. He spent $4200 on machine work/parts/assembly, not including the heads/cam. The entire motor including heads/cam/rockers/obdI swap/cai only cost me my old motor plus $500, and I only had about $1300 in my old motor. I ended up w/ a forged 383 and the le2 package plus the extras for about the same price as just the le2 package.

Man that is fast but it also looks like you ran faster with the old 350. What was your 60' with the setup?

Hey Justin, did I mention that I hate you.

I still haven't installed that cam I bought from you. Some guys get all the luck.

Yep the stock bottem end baby cam setup is still faster right now. But it was a perfect setup, running great, perfect tune, geared right, etc. This 383 is going to put down some 11.2x's come spring easily when it's running right.

Everybody says extra cubes will tame a cam and that makes sense but in a real world application... did you notice any difference?

My new cam is A LOT bigger than the old cam, so it's not a fair comparision.

It's cool, that cam would've sounded 100% STOCK in a 383.

Good base times Who did your base tune? I have a very similar set up with a PCMforless base tune. Not broke in just yet. I will be very happy if I can run mid 11's NA. Do you have your 1/8 mile times. (I only have 1/8 mile tracks here.)

7.8 at 91mph and 7.5 at 91mph. Pcmforless did my base tune for me. I'm going to datalog and have him fine tune it via 4 or 5 more tunes/datalogs.
