ok so last night i start my car and i hear what sounds to be an exhaust leak.after further inspection i notice its coming from the middle of the head.i pulled the alternator,started it and still the same sound.so i pulled the valve cover and everything looks normal except the 3rd spring from the front..the lock between the rocker and spring looks to be split,like a little chunk missing.spring and rocker look normal.the retainer on the bottom of the spring is visible which is weird bc all the others are not visible.i never lifted the cover before(stock motor..115k) and didnt beat on it the day before or anything.

any input on what could of happened?i started the car without the valve cover and everything is functioning normally but you can still here it.as you rev it up the sound doesnt seem to get louder just muffled from the exhaust.checked the oil and its perfect...any input on what happened?

the sound is like a pulsating sound.almost like a exhaust leak but you can tell its a moving part.i dont here any metal clanking going on so hopefully thats a good sign.
