got pan off now im stuck???

got pan off now im stuck???

i cant get this shaft off the pump that is about 10 inches long..

How do i take this off and put it on other pump?

Also my pickup fell off even though it was tack welded on

was laying in tray..

I need to know asap as i have the crankshaft just sitting open and i dont want it sitting too long without the pan being on..

i take it has a steel collar on it i usually just buy a new one only 10 bucks

yea has some kind oof long shaft with a plastic cylinder at the bottom of it connected it to the shaft from the oil pump.

Yeah just break the plastic piece a new one should come in the oil pan gasket set

doh....

i have to buy a new oilpan gasket set?

even though this one only has about 1k miles on it?

the oil pan gasket is still stuck to the bottom of the block and looks good. i was just going to add some more rtv in the front and rear main

how do i press in the pickup? cause it seems a bit difficult without usiing some sort of tool.

the pickup and pump is 5/8's

You could try heating up the oil pump in the oven (might want to take the spring out) and put the pickup in the freezer and see if they'll go together.

ok is the pickup suppose to sit at a angle in the pan or is it suppose to be exactly straight over the top layer in the pan?

or does the pickup goes at the very bottom of the pan?

i have no idea how imgoing to get the pickup inside the pump!

also this pickup is larger than the one i took off.

The actual size of the pick up is almost irrelevant as long as it doesn't exceed the height. If you cant press the pick up into the pump call a machine shop and im sure they can do it for no more than 10 bucks unless they are trying to pull a fast one. The pick up should be straight. But of course this is dictated by the height.
