ok got the pickup on using a 16mm rench and hammer!
I tried to get the pickup as close as possible to what the other one looked like.
And it was sitting at an angle like maybe a 30* or so, plus its alot bigger than the other pickup...
I lined it up by putting the tach welds together and it came out at an angle..
is this not right or should it be almost flat with the bottom of the oil pump?
Also i dont think im going to have to weld the pickup on becuase it was a very very tight squeeze in there...

It should be parallel to the mounting surface of the pump, is the oil pan a stock pan , maybe somebody put a deeper pan on and tried to make the stock pickup work with it.
I can't see the pickup even fitting in a stock pan at a 30 degree angle, maybe send a pic of the pan with the pump next to it for comparison

ok everything is back together....
but one ? how long does it take for my oil pressure guage to go down. I let it run for a good 2-3 mintues and the pressure was at around 60-75 psi.....

ok pressure drops to around the mid mark and it will prob go a lil under after a long drive..at reg throttle the PSI goes to around 65-70....im hoping the WOT woont mess anything up..i did put a 70lb spring in it also.
also discoverd some oil drops..Come to find out the oil sesnor wasnt scerwed al the way in and i also saw one drop on the oil filter. I tighted that up with a filter pliers, and i checked all around the pan and saw no leaks what so ever.....
were could it be comming from? valve covers are fine, back of intake is fine....anything?
Ok went WOT and the PSI, when switch gears, dropped to around the midway mark, let off gas went back up, got on it again and this time it didnt drop at all...3rd time i went wot it dropped maybe like 4-5psi, but now i see the oil drippping from my passenger side o2 sensor wire.

sound like your pick up is too far away from the bottom of the pan. the pick-up should be about an 1/8" from the bottom of the pan. The pick-up could have dropped out of the pump again, but I dought it.

the pressure is fine......
it idles right under the halfway mark.. but i ahvent gotten to drive it that long for it to go even lower...
and if the pickup fell off i wouldnt have n e pressure!!

I also stuck my finger in the oil sensor hole to check the pick up and it was nice and snug tight...cause before i couldnt get the sensor in,m becuase i had the pickup set toooo high so i dropped it alot..
Only thing is that the psi is around 70psi cold maybe a bit higher, but when warm it drops down....
im started to second that white spring i bought and should have just left the reg one in there... But ne ways it works good, cept now i need to find this dang oil leak. search pan and nothing is there and i went back and snug tighten them all to the trrq specs..
well off to bed ill see if anyone posts tom.

When your engine heats up the oil becomes less viscous, or more watery I guess you could say. That is why the pressure will drop after a long drive. The oil pump is compresing a thin fluid, instead of something thcker.

i looked around that and didnt see anything...
im about to go recheck the oil pan bolts...
When i took the pan off the gasket looks very good and wasnt ripped at all..
I looked on the driver side vavle cover area and there are no leaks, but i did not check the passenger. I wll go check that out later today, cause the dops were comming from the passegner side...
But other than that sometimes the oil pressure drops to around 40 at wot, must 90% of the time it doesnt drop at all at wot..
warm and driving it runs around 60psi, wot goes up to 70-75, then idle runs about 30-35psi...
so all in all it was the mellion high flow pump that cause my pressure drop. Sucking that pan dry..
Now just to find this darn oil leak.
im about to go recheck the oil pan bolts...

that is a solution since its kinda wiggles around cause it isnt bolted to the block cause of my hooker headers.
but that was my last problem on my other engine when spraying. the tube would come out some.
i will also check that out later today.
