Got One for you. I hope you can help.

Here's the issue. I picked up a 94 Camaro body and just got done putting a motor from a 95 into it. I have the harness from the 94 that i used for the install. So i have the benifits of the vented opti but didn't have to rewire the 95 harness into the 94 car. Here's the delima, No spark from the coil in the 94. So to test the coil and ignition module i swapped it into my 93 and it fired right up, so coil and ignition module are good. So next thing i get the bright idea to do is swap the computers, Yeah, i know what you're thinking, a 93 and 94 ECU's are different. I converted my 93 to a 94 harness with a 95 motor a few years back. Still have the same problem. So i switch the computers back and now my 93 is having the same issue. I'm thinkin i fried the ECU cause i got lazy and didn't disconnect the battery. (I've done it in the past and it always worked fine with no problems) Here's the thing on that though. I hooked up my laptop and downloaded the programming from the computer which seems to tell me that the computer is working fine. If i fried it i don't think i would be able to upload and download programming to it. All VATS are bypassed from the resister inline to it removed from the program. It never actually fires over either. it just cranks and I have fuel just no spark. I'm pretty sure it's not the opti cause there's nothing coming from the coil. plus it ran perfectly fine up untill i swapped computers. Any ideas that are not opti related cause i know that's always the first things people go for most of the time. Thanks in advance.

Have you actually checked for power to the coil? There is no mention of it. You seem to be swapping things around, instead of troubleshooting.

I didn't have my multimeter with me at the time. So i just figured I had a good working LT1 right behind the one I'm working on so i just swapped it. I'll be doing the Multimeter checks tomorrow when i get off duty. I printed out your guides for that. I just thought that maybe there's some sort of security thing linked to the computer (other than the VATS) that may prevent swapping the computers like that. I've never had any issues before with putting new computers in cars and that happening. So i thought maybe I missed something. I'll be taking the readings tomorrow and will post the results. Just thought maybe someone has had the same issue with similar circumstances and found a simple stupid fix for it that i'm overlooking. We'll see tomorrow i guess.

The only thing the computer does in relation to security is receive the signal from the VATS module (or BCM in later years) for fuel enable. There is no embedded security function in the PCM.

Not sure what it was but i went over to start the process of troubleshooting the issue with the cars. I started by hooking my handy dandy spark tester to No1 plug, no spark. Next step, hook the tester to the coil to opti wire. Try again, BAAAAAAAAAAM arching and sparking all of a sudden and the car almost started. The arching was from the plug tester touching metal. Take the tester off, plug coil wire back on, let the battery charge a little, turn the key and VROOM, Car is running just fine now. I gotta go pick it up now and i'll scan it on my way home but it seems to run just fine now. Starts no problem. That's the 93TA. The 94 Camaro, i figured what the heck, I'll try it too. It kicked over like it wanted to start but i think the battery is too dead right now. And i think the VATS may affect that one too. I'll have to disable the VATS in the program if it starts and then shuts off after the 3 seconds. Who know's it may just be outa gas. I have it on the charger and will probably let it charge overnight and try again in the morning. I don't know Maybe it was flooded or something wasn't seated right .. Eh.. who knows.. one of those Gremlins i guess. Alls well for now.
