Got my headers Today...A few questions???

I recieved my AS&M headers today and they look great. I ordered the single cat conversion package and all the pipeing is hpc coated. The only problem is where the #1 primary is supposed to slip in. It is bent inward a tiny bit. So it won't go in. Can i just bend it? I just don't want to bend it to much because i don't want it leaking from there.

ditto, those are new headers, should be free of defects. Mine slipped right in no problems. Call them up and ask them what they suggest, you don't want to sand any of the ceramic coating off.

I called them and they said that they don't send them out that way so they must of got damaged in transit. They said just look over everything real good and send back anything that is messed up. They said they would fix it free of charge and fix it or send me new ones the same day. So thats what i'm gonna do. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the replies.

I just put a level on the passenger side header flange to see if it was pefectly straight. The level isn't flush with the flange the whole way. It is on the middle but on boths sides it is off a tiny bit. Is this okay?

Flange should be machined flat. Again, call and ask them what the allowable tolerance is, but it should not be much. If you can see that it's not straight with a straight edge, let them know about it. You should be able to put a straight edge on the flange and have it aligned.
Good luck

i just received my as&m headers a few weeks ago and they looked awesome. i pulled them out of the box again a few days ago and they're covered in rust spots. i called them up and they are going to replace them. it's just really wierd that after all the good things i read about them that 2 people within weeks of each other got screwed up sets. i'll reserve my final judgement when i get the new set back but the guy on the phone seemed very perterbed that they got rust on them without even being on the car.

Hmm...thats pretty weird. The guy on the phone seemed pretty cool about it. I'm gonna have my uncle check out the passenger side header flange before i send that back to. It is pretty straight but both sides of the flange bend downward a little.
