After just 1.5 hours of work I got my DMH electric cutout installed for my borla. Paid $150 shipped, has all the wiring needed, switch, and 4 years of warranty. Perfect fit with Borla. Took exactly 1 week to receive the product from the day sending the payment through paypal. From looking at the product I could tell it's a nice piece of equipment. Easy install, enough wire to put the switch wherever you want. Instructions even advised where to get ground and positive power. Results- car is about %30 quiter at idle with cutout closed, but when I rev the car with cutout open, windows in neighbor houses start shaking . At higher RPM's there is a bit difference in loudness between closed and open cutout. No more cops steering at me at the light , it's a relativelly quite car when I want it to be

Right on, RIGHTEOUS RIGHTEOUS!

I've got my payment sent out to Dave, waiting to get exhaust on car, but man! After hearing open headers with my cam, the look on the driver next to me is gonna be priceless once I open from near stock quiet idle w/the hooker and cat, to all out destruction with open exhaust.

The cutout is just before the cat, so no "muffled" sound at all. Kicks down with a turn down so the floorboards don't heat up at all, the turndown is slightly tweaked outward though so it faces the car on the passenger side.

Tanker, I'm looking to do a similiar set-up (LT's,ORP,Borla w/DMH), but I've read a lot of threads where people complain of rasp and drone from Borlas when cats are removed. Have you noticed this?

Yes, there is definatly some rasp, I was wondering what was causing it too. It occurs only at around 2000 rpms, and only if I am slow on the gas. If I am pulling hard, there is no rasp. Also, open cutout amplifies rasp a bit.

Well ****, what kinda exhaust are you running. For a cutout to only be a little bit louder, I can't even imagine. My car with open headers can be heard about 2 miles away over a hill. With the muffler you can barely hear it 100 yards away.

With Hooker LT's, cat!, cc306, my car was loud enough to know it's definatelly not a stock car . I got the cutout just for a better exhaust flow when my right foot is touching the floor . I will find the way to record music of my car in the future

Well, I guess I have yet to hear my car with a full exhaust on it after the heads & cam.

When you say raspy... do you mean "pulsy" like hearing the exhaust pulses pop.

Here's a clip from a road course.

By saying raspy I mean there is some kind of high pitch resonance at 2000 rpms, like exhaust gets much louder. At all other times its a great muscle car sound. Love that cam

Never heard of Dynatech Vortex Insert Cones. Wil do more research on them. Eventually I would love my exhaust to be quite, and when I open cutout it would get very loud.
