Im looking at just getting a basic rebuild for a 96 LT1, no frills, but with forged pistons. I found a reputable place to build the motor with a warranty, and they will even put forged pistons back in it instead of the hypers. They checked on their prices, and said 500 for a set! Are there any cheaper sets out there, this isnt going to be a full blown alky motor or anything. Most it'll ever see is maybe 150 shot or 6lbs of boost if that. Let me know what you guys find.

I have a set of Sealed Power forged pistons in mine..they were relatiely cheap. Idont have the price list off hand...maybe I'll try and dig up the order later, havent seen it for a while.

 

Check out the Keith Black forged pistons. Should be able to pick up a set for just over $400. Alot lighter than the TRW stuff too.

You should be able to get a set of Probes for under $400 I think... www.adperformance.com , see what he can get some for you for...Sealed Power/TRW has some cheaper pistons, but pretty heavy from what I understand. How much are you looking to spend?

 

Are the LT1 and SBC pistons diffrent? I saw a set in summitt for aroudn $240, like I said, this will be a stock cam'd stock head'ed car, so overkill is NOT needed.
