Good Price on LT4 Heads?

I'm curious as to what the best set of heads for my setup would be, but I'd assume a set of LT4's would be... If you disagree, let me know, I'm still in the research phase.

But I'm curious as to what to expect to pay for a used set of LT4 heads and then to have them PnP and if I'd be better of just buying them new. If new, where from? If used, how much is decent and at what point should I bust out the **** lube?

TIA!

You could also buy a set of AFR heads. By the time you buy a set of LT4s, and port them, the AFRs will have been cheaper. One of my friends is a dealer. Let me know if you're interested.

Your other option is to simply send the stock heads out to get ported.

What kind of HP would I be looking at with a set of AFR Heads?
Would it be worth it over porting the stock heads?

Unless you plan on changing your Hot Cam out for something more agressive the AFRs would probably be overkill. I have a sweet grind in mine (check sig) and the only bad thing about it is you need some good springs with the XXER ramp rates it will kill cheap springs.

No offense but proabably a MIRACLE

The LT4 Hot Cam is just a very aggresive power making cam great for the street but just doesn't have the lift or duration to make the peak HP numbers you are looking for.

Should I look to spray? I was hoping to hit 350-400 n/a and 550-600 on spray - should I re-evaluate my goals? Would LT4 Heads and Intake make a huge difference over the stock LT1 H/I?

LT4 Heads are better heads than LT1 stock for stock, but you can make the LT1s flow some good numbers. Mine flow around high 280s on intake. By the time you buy stock LT4 heads and have then ported over just having your LT1s ported you would probably have enough money to buy your N20 kit and some other junk.

Only prob is it's my daily - I may grab some stock LT1 heads out of a Junkyard and give them to Musser if he's still up for it

What should I look @ paying for a PnP on stock LT1 heads?

If you go with big valves 2.02/1.60 by the time you pay for all the labor and parts, I.E. machining, valves themselves, valve job, etc.. I would expect around 1,500 to 1,700 for a nice set that will flow good numbers.

You should get an Xtreme XE 224/230 or 230/236 cam with a good set of heads like the AFRs.

That will guarantee you over 380rwhp.

The XE series cams make great midrange power so they keep the car very drivable.

I put an XE 230/236 in my stroker and its very tame for it. Should be fine in a 350.

If I'm at 320rwhp now, what kind of gains will I be looking at?

<---- I like to be efficient in my $$:Power gain ratio

If your at 320 now with that cam I would guess 40-50 hp maybe more maybe less after a set of good heads. But you would have much more in there with a big cam 237/242 XXER is the Shiznit idles like a old school muscle car. FluMP FluMP FlumP

Looks like this will just have to be a Daily Driver/Cruiser/Chick Picker-uper from the sounds of it... Thanks for the advice guys - I'll just keep the stock heads and spray it.

With out forging the rods, would I be able to spray a 150 = 200 shot "safely" on a once or twice a month basis? How bout with forged rods? I already have forged pistons but I'm just curious how strong an LT1 is

One thing to remeber N20 is never safe it can always screw up and tear up your motor. If you run a wet kit and the nitrous bottle has to much pressure and is spraying more nitrous than normal and you aren't supplying enough fuel say good by to your motor.

What I am trying to say is Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD you know you want to hit it but you dont want the consequences.
