Good one! No start, SES light not functional
sorry to hijack but what would be a good way to check to see if your SES light even works without hurting the motor? Maybe unplugging the MAF or something similar that won't hurt the car but that SHOULD throw a code?
SES light should turn on with the key on before even cranking the engine. If not you have to chase back the 12v source from the fuse box and/or the ground signal wire from the PCM. Mine wasnt working because my pcm had no 12v supply, comes from the radio fuse and it was pulled. You can check quick for the 12v at the orange wire on the black connector behind the pass kick panel that feeds the PCM. If no power there you have to chase it back to the fuse box. Now make your own post
This car is still DOA, I havent gotten back to it yet, but am to the point of checking the opti harness for continuity and if that checks out I will have to swap out the opti. Still not sure how the opti would be bad since I always have spark, but who knows since the opti is aftermarket.

no problem, remember mine didnt work because my pcm didnt have any power, and there are both key on and key off 12v lines to it (pink is key on 12v, orange has 12v at all times). I had the key on 12v but not the full time 12v. I had no tach signal which also was showing the PCM was not working. If your PCM seems functional but you just dont have a SES light make sure someone didnt pull the bulb to keep you from knowing it is lit. Unplugging the MAF should light it.
