good kit for 700 rwhp?

callies dragon slayer 3.875
manley aluminum 5.7 rods
mahle pistons
if any pearts you would chage which ones and for what reason. money doesnt matter, when you wanna build it build it right. i was looking at the compstar kit from callies as well but i know this kit would hold more and be a little lighter on the rod weight. oh yeah there will be nitrous being used , thats the reason for the 5.7 rods

For 700rwhp, your going to need a lot longer list then this in order for anyone to give you good advise. Im going to have close to 700rwhp on spray for mine... and its my DD. Thats why I have over 14K into it... to keep it reliable. Get a longer list of supporting mods, top end, ect.

use CAT rods, unlike most brands which say supports up to 500hp or 700hp, CAT supports 900hp and up, they are like $50 more then eagle rods so its worth it.

If its anything other than a hard-core, track only, maximum HP effort, you do not want aluminum connecting rods. They have a very "finite" life.

You also need to be sure you spec a nitrous specific piston. Not sure what Mahle has in the way of nitrous pistons. I got mine from BME.

ok looking at BME . which one did you buy for your nitrous setup, the solid dome? or did you contact them and tell them what you were doing and have them change the ring placement or anything? keep talking (i belive your name is) fred (from reading other post) i need more advice. this is the first motor i have put together, instead of buying a long block. i ordered the main caps you told me about , they havent got here yet. are they normally backed up or take a few weeks to get them out to ya?

Carillo and Oliver are both about the best. We used Oliver's in our motor and I plan to make just under 1100 at the crank.

ok we have the rods and pistons issue delt with , thanks for all the info from all of you guys. i have been on google and a few sites getting part numbers. now to the crank. will the dragon slayer do it or do i need more meat? so far we are in the area of 716.00 for the pistons, 940.80 for the rods oliver forged. i don't mind spending the money but man i almost wanna cry. i never understood why i see photos of peoples rods and pistons and cranks on line all the time. now i see why, hell i am going to have a steak dinner with the rods and pistons as center pieces on the dining room table. i might make a home movie with me and them , me opening the box and hugging them as i cry. lol sad just sad

Re: good kit for 700 rwhp?

We told BME what we wanted in terms of valve relief, rod length, ring pack, upper oilers and let them to the rest. Then the tops of the pistons were glass beaded and the skirts given a Swain moly coating. BME also supplied the wrist pins.

Oliver "forged" rods are not the same as Oliver "Billet". The Billets are closer to $1,200. But the Billets are also good for the 1,000HP range.

Click on the mods list in my signature.... there aren't too many secrets.

Re: good kit for 700 rwhp?

You want the strongest as first priority, second you want lightest! look at the bobweight of the cranks. Stock crank is in the area of 58lbs, most aftermarket is near 50lbs, some of the high dollar cranks can see low 40's. Look at the weight of your rods, get the strongest light weight rod possible, same for the pistons. Top that off with a alum. drive shaft, alum. flywheel/flexplate, and some underdrives, and that baby is gonna turn up in a hurry.

A good reliable kit for 700RWHP ?
The easiest (and probably cheapest and most reliable ) way would be to go with a 572cid big block, no joke.
