Good Idea/Bad Idea... car storage related
First off, im not planning on starting my car up while it sits in storage... but would it be a good idea to hit the starter for a second or so to turn over the motor a bit? Ive heard that an engine that doesnt turn over for a long time can cause some weakend valve springs. Fact/Myth? Good Idea/Bad Idea?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't know about that.
What I've been told is that if it sits long enough, rust can actually accumulate on your cylinder walls (it is iron, after all..) so you need oil to lubricate everything once in a while. I'd just start it up every few months, it usually takes a couple of years or more for it to seize up, my grandpa had a couple do that to him...
I thougt there was something that was supposed to replace the oil for the soul purpose of storage

well, im just storing it for the winter... I know I dont have to worry about that... but Im just wondering if valvesprings can weaken under the pressure over time. Or is 3-4 months not long enough to hurt anything???
