Good cam to work with LE2 heads
Good cam to work with LE2 heads
I am set on a set of LE2 heads (sending mine to him) and was looking at the description of the cam and would like to know if anyone has found a cam that works well with this head setup. I would like to have something that is making power from 1500-1800 all the way to 5500-5800.
Any suggestions??

Yes talk to Lloyd. He is a great guy, and will help you out. What he will probably do is set you up with a custom cam. Im pretty sure he doesn't charge any extra, just the standard $350. That is about the only way you are going to get a cam that makes a decent amount of power for that rpm range.
Just out of curiosity, Why don't you want to rev higher than 5800?

if your just want our recommendation i would say for that rpm range you should maybe look at the LE1 cam, but again talking to lloyd is your best bet, he is a very nice guy and will gladly take the time to help you out. i would stay away from the high lift [HL] versions of those cams though
edit: just so you have an idea my cam starts to make good power around 2500 and pulls very strong until i let off at 6600

I dont rev over 58-5900/A4 car. The car is a street car mainly. I have no reason to go any higher. I want the powerband moved lower and keep the powerband i up through to the shift.
I am doing my homework dacton. That is why I have this thread posted. I have heard of others running cams other than the LE ground cam and was seeing what the suggestions were.
I have seen the cam specs for the LE2 cam and they are spec'd out right but I want the power band to start lower than they do.
I will talk to Lloyd to see what he can do but lets see if any of the non LE cam guys chime in.

More beef down low and across the board than the off-the-shelf grinds.
Actually Bret will design a cam to meet your needs, whatever they may be for the same price.
At the very least use a modern grind like a CC50x.

llyod will do whatever you want with your cam. If 6k is where you want to be shifting than just say so. You ll be giving up some power by not reving it high enough but it looks like you could care less.

If you are wanting power only to 6000 RPM, a cam in the mid 210 duration to low 220 duration is all you need.
We can make it idle as smooth as you like or even put a lil chop into it depending on emissions and how broad you want the power band (idle to 6000 RPM, 1500 to 6000 RPM, 2000 to 6000 RPM).
Catalog cams like the GM 845, Crane 227, etc, will work well if you do not want a custom cam.
