good cam choice?
good cam choice?
im looking at a Gallant Technical Performance stage 5 cam the specs for it are: 114LSA 236/236 and .525/.525 with 1.5 rockers or .565/.565 with 1.6 rockers (what i plan to run i think). is this a good cam for a car with the mods below? a guy is selling it new what do you think its worth? i figure that plus some 1.6 roller rockers, new springs and a timing chain is about all ill need. with this perduce good power with stock heads?
thanks guys

Re: good cam choice?
any recomondations on what lifters to get? im trying to do this on a college budget but im not so sure if thats going to work now. without the cam cost how much do you guys think i can get away with spending for the lifters, timing chain, and rockers?
Re: good cam choice?
you may be able to get away with just using stock replacement comp lifters, but a lot of people will tell you to just drop in some comp r's.
~$125 for some used R's, depending on what kind of replacement timing chain and sprocket you want, ~$50-$60 for a stock replacement chain and sprocket, you can find some gmpp 1.6 SA rockers for ~$125-150.

Here ya go man http://gtp-racing.com/ If you want to research it. I'd be one sided. You don't need to replace lifter unless you have alot of miles on yours. Comp r's are not needed in a cam of this size. Your not going to spin it to 7000 rpm's. You can call comp's tech line give them the specs and listen to what they tell ya if you don't believe me. www.compcams.com
