good boostable headgasket bigger than .039?
good boostable headgasket bigger than .039?
Ok well IM doing a 355 with SRP's -24cc pistons/5.7rods. What are some good headgaskets (like the 1074s) that hold boost.(about 14psi on a 76mm turbo) that are thicker than .039. Im trying to get an <8.8 compression ratio. My block is going to golen to get done and im going to try to get around a .015 deck height. Also. I have LE2 heads that are 57cc+-1 and 7.2" comp hi-tech pushrods that fit perfect with .039 headgaskets and stock height. Since im taking away material from the block I want to add it back in the headgasket to 1.get the lowest compression possible(suitable for what im doing) and 2. not have to buy new rods....Any ideas? other than cometic? They are my last hope.-Mark

IMHO you already have too much quench space (.015+.039=.054). To reduce the tendency to detonate, you should be looking at something closer to .040" quench and even less if you were naturally aspirated. If you ran a .025" gasket and increased the piston dish to 28cc you would have your 8.8 ratio. Be sure when you increase the dish size that you don't cut away any of the flat on the piston top, you need that for the quench against the head.
