GOLEN 360hp LT1 Long Block

So this week i receive good news and bad news.

Good news: i ve receive my kooks lt and y-pipe and a lot of supportings parts(poly mounts,tb air foil,1.6 full roller comp pro mag rocker)

Bad news:a couple weeks ago my ewp failed and my engine overheat like hell .I put a new gear driven pump but the car was still burning some coolant.Today my engine made huge with smoke and running really crappy.

So i need advice.

I always set my goal to 350-375whp to have some fun.Because my car is daily driver during the summer and my goal are not that high, i dont want and dont need some forged 355/383/396 engine

I then begin to think about ordering a complete engine ready to run.Would be easier for me to buy a all in one package since im from canada and everything even for a rebuilt is damn expensive.

I ve found this:

http://www.golenengineservice.com/sp...l/350_360.html

I ve heard good thing about them.So i would need your opinion on this engine/quality/price .

Im also open to any suggestion

Thank you

Golen makes good motors on a budget.

Those engines are rated at the flywheel, golen longblocks put down **** for power. People with 383's longblocks from them are putting down 300-320rwhp

For that price you could have 400rwhp longblock.

I live in Alaska, so I am right next to you. If you are interested in a forged block I have one with only 5000 miles on it in great shape. I would let it go fairly cheap...

They rate the motors at the flywheel not the wheels. With that 360hp package you wouldn't even break 300rwhp.

Golen engines are dynoed on an engine dyno without accessories. RWHP would be 22-25% lower than their rated numbers. You should definitely get better heads for a stroker.

I would look elsewhere for a built motor.

Eric,
I sent over some possible engine packages for your application.

Yea its not like many bolt on stock LT1's are around 300rwhp. Sad waste of money if you ask me.

I say first find out what the status of your current motor is. It might be fine and you could make 350rwhp with just some bolt on's and a camshaft swap. No use in jumping right to buying a whole new block, heads, etc.
