Going from OBD2 to OBD1, What all has to be done?
Going from OBD2 to OBD1, What all has to be done?
I am replacing my motor with another one and it comes with a OBD1 aready programed (the car the motor was in also started out an OBD2 but was converted to OBD1) both cars are A4. Is there anything I need to do other than drop in the OBD1 PCM? I guess I will not need sims for a OBD1 right? What else will I need? I already have another thread with questions about changing the little stuff like gear ratio and the things that are different in both cars. PCM4less said they can make the changes with out changing the motor tuning but I might try it myself, just dont' know much about programming yet. Thanks Alan
The setup you described should be just fine. And yes you can use the LT4KM that was previously in your OBD2 PCM - I did (after asking here as well).
BTW where do you have your Mallory box located? Mine is giving me all sorts of problems wired into my '96 coil. Either theres something wrong with the box itself or a short somewhere while pulling the wires through the firewall...rev limiter works ok but it is always pulling whatever timing value is set in Start Retard (mode 4), even above the 500rpm limit it's supposed to work until.
Maybe you can check out my thread at http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=85523
