Going heads/cam...build a new short block?
Going heads/cam...build a new short block?
The stock short block is still in it, has about 66K miles on it all original, no issues with it smoking, holds presure fine, zero blow by, car even passes inspection perfect. Really cant say it has any issues, motor runs great and its never seen nitrous or any real abuse, hell the vlave covers have never been off even. Would it be worth putting h/c on it? Or should I look for building up a new short block? I eventually do plan to build like a 383 or some thing, but rather spend that money else where in the car.

Your stock bottom end should have alot of life left with those miles
Look at the LE1 or LE2 combo

Thanks for your input, getting the heads off a friend, they need some work but I will send them to a local shop here in town to have them cleaned up, valve job and maybe touch up some of the ports. Cam wise though, thats another story
Re: Going heads/cam...build a new short block?
are they stock LT1 heads? You can just send them to Llyod, and tell him what kind of power you want and he'll make a cam to your specs. he is a great guy to deal with
