Going to Get heads today Quick Question
Going to Get heads today Quick Question
I am going to get AFR 190 Street Heads. Would it be better to get the LT4 version and get an LT4 Intake. Or just Get the LT1 Heads??? Or can I just Modify My Intake??
Well Their Both 190 Street Heads, Is the LT4 Intake That Much Better??? Also I've heard that the LT1 Intake Can be Made to flow Better than the LT4. Lingenfelter does a LT4 Conversion if you send in a LT1 Core!! are the differences that minute? Basically is it worth the extra $$$
Pretty sure the LT4 is 195 cc.I dont know about the intakes, but I have a feeling it wouldnt make much difference. The LT4 is prettier.lol.If you are looking for max HP the LT4 is probably for you.It does flow better, especially at the higher lifts.Porting it more and it would be a monster.

go LT4
The main restriction on LT1 motors are our intake manifolds.

With a Comp XE 230/236 cam, I made 381 rwhp through SLP shorty headers. The LT1 heads are worth looking into.
In terms of AFR heads, I would go with the LT1 heads just so you can reuse your LT1 manifold. It flows more than the heads, and everyone I've talked to says that stock it's fine. That's why there's no real aftermarket replacement. The AFR LT1 heads flow about the same as the LT4 (see their website and compare the numbers). Usually you are better on a street engine staying with smaller cc intake runners so as to increase low-end torque and response.

Yeah But I can get a set of AFR LT4 Heads for $1795.00 I have not seen anyone who will do my stock heads for $1500.00 or less. Not to say I'm sold on AFR's it's just the way I'm looking at it now is I can get NEW heads for 200 more OR having Nu-Tek do My heads. Maybe have my heads done and use the excess cash for Hydra Rev?
Are you going with a little cam? I personally would get nothing smaller than the AFR 210 lt4's. When i get some nice heads i will most likely get the race ported 220 lt4's. I knew someone with the 195's and a hotcam and the car was pretty slow!

they all are highly regarded on this forum.
those afr lt4 heads are expensive, and still need porting done to them to really make them worthwhile. so it will be alot more than 1795!
Wow, I had my mind made up!! I was Going to have myself some new Cyl Heads today!! I figured I'd Bounce it off ya and see if my plan was good!! Now I'm torn!!
OK Looking at my setup, Where is my weakpoint now??? I definately am going to keep the rotating assembly stock for now Just to see how many miles I can rack up on it
when I dissisembled it last winter it looked GREAT so I just left it alone so bottom end aside Where's my weakest link the lifters and pushrods are still stock. and I have a +/- $2000.00 Budget, I'm definately thinking heads but now I absolutely have no Idea. . . Please Help!!

id get some hardened pushrods, and new lifters if those are the only things you havent replaced yet. that shouldnt cost you more than $250ish..............i got a set of barely used chromoly pushrods for $50! (normally $110ish).......or you can get brand new stuff......hardened pushrods are only $40ish, lifters $200ish.
then just decide who you want to do your heads.
i already recommended 3 choices who you can feel safe with, and will get great results.
you might as well get the whole package from them (bigger valves, new springs, etc). this will end up being about $1000-1500 depending on who you go with.
just remember, the power is in the heads (well most of it), so go with someone who has already proven they get good results and happy customers (ie those guys i recommended).
I like your plan As for bottom End I may Build it stronger after she blows (oR iF???) but I think I'll always keep it a 350. I have always liked the Higher compression So basically I'm looking for a set of heads that will run the best with a 350CID bottom and the LT4 Hotcam. I don't have any problem using higher octane fuel I may go true-dual and put some LT's on it but I really do a lot of highway use! I don't want to build a non-streetable machine I have AC and all the fixins inside with some occasional autocross and drag racing
