GOING TO FLUSH oil what is the best flush or what do u use
Seafoam, kerosene, or ATF are sometimes used to do this. ATF is a 10 weight oil with HIGH detergent qualities, some people consider it magical in what it can pickup off an engine.
If you talk to an older guy you will hear kerosense sometimes had been used to free up sticky lifters, some people even ran it straight for about 30 seconds, but I wouldn't recommend it as it can be dangerous, and I dont personally know how it will wear inside an engine.
Good luck

I did the seafoam thing, then also after i changed the oil 500 miles later i put in dino oil and changed that after about 1000 miles. didn't notice much of a difference, or any really, but I figured it was good preventative maintenance, right?
Without a doubt, this is the BEST engine flush:

Here's why. It is not a solvent, so it does not attack everything fast and cause clogged oil passages. It dissolves it slowly over 500-1000 miles and safely carries it to the oil filter. Just the very fact that you can drive with it in the engine shows how safe it is for the engine. Others won't allow you to do this because they thin out the oil. And some of it remains behind when you do the oil change, so it thins out the next batch of oil a little too.
Auto-rx worked for me, my oil analysis results below prove it:

I talk with the inventor of this product a lot, and he tells me if you're running the Auto-rx in synthetic oil, do it for 750-1000 miles, if running it in dino, run it 500 miles. If you're using the product to fix minor leaks (NOT the LT1 intake leak!) then you must use dino oil during the treatment and the first oil change following it.

I just changed my oil about 3 times every 1000 miles to flush it out. Additives are ok but i personally dont trust them in my engine. I flushed my oil with standard 10w30 dino oil then switched to pure synthetic afterwards. Pure synthetic is like detergeant for a dirty engine. Not only does the dino flush help get the chunky stuff out (hopefully theres no chunks!) but after a few standard synthetic changes, you should be fine.
If you guys don't feel safe using flush products, another way to clean out the engine is to run a fleet oil in your car. These are oils that are rated for both diesel and gas, and are usually in 15w40 viscosity. Something like Shell Rotella, Mobil Delvac 1300, Pennzoil Long life, and many more. If you do a couple of short intervals with these oils they can often do a minor cleaning. Not as good as Auto-rx, but not bad if the engine isn't too dirty inside.
I also recently heard of one person who ran Shell Formula oil and it cleaned a good amount of sludge out of their engine.

I work at a lube shop here in town. We use some stuff called Run-Rite. Pour it in with the old oil before we change it and let it run for 5mins. Seems to clean very well. Sell's pretty good too.
Might check your owners manual on this. I did this once on a Pinto,it sure cleaned out everything allright, but the car started smoking.Seems I lost the compression rings on the pistons.Never again will I put something in the oil that will break down the oil,in order to clean out the engine.(Don't the new oils have detergents in them to do this safely?)Doesn't changing the oil every 2 to 3 thousand miles clean the engine?Any body want to chime in on this.I could be mistaken of course,so might disregard this message altogther.
No matter what oil you use, and even if you change it every 3k, it will still eventually leave behind some deposits. Higher priced oils like Redline that use more esters, can generally keep things clean longer, but even it's not immune to leaving behind some stuff. I'm not saying an engine gets totally dirty in 20,000 miles though. It all depends on driving habits too. Short trips are killer, especially in cold weather.
