Going to change OPTI and lifters tomorrow, need some advice

Hey guys. I am going to change the opti tomorrow and the lifters on my passanger side bank. Now that the wether is warm, car starts to sputter and spit, and miss when warm. Its not wires or plugs, been through this not long ago. I changed them a few times, no difference. I think a number 4 cylinder lifter is noisy, I keep adjusting the rocker and the noise does not want to go away. Its ok at WOT (when there is high oil pressure), but at idle and part throttle, its ticking. I changed from stock to RR, noise didn't change. Changed from exhsaust manifolds to headers, noise didnt change (headers are NOT leaking), so I am thinking must be lifters. I have some used lifters out of my old 305, they never ticked and are still good I am sure. How do I clean/inspect them properly before installing them.

I have tunercat, have the cable but have never used it. I don't have a laptop, but desktop computer. I did try freescan with it, and it worked. Basically, I would like to tune it up a little if I can, but mostly I would like to dissable the knock sensor and skip shift, bump the rev limiter a bit higher, and set the temp. for my cooling fans to come in a bit lower, to match my 160 T stat. If anyone can explain to me how to do this using a desktop, please do.

What else should I do to my car as far as easy bolt ons while I am doing this to boost power a bit? Thanks guys. I've been working on my 350 for my '88, I have neglected the LT1 for a while. Thanks again!!!
