going from 3" Y to 2.5" Y...

Will I see a gain/drop in anything? Right now I have TPiS long tubes, 3" Y-pipe, 3" exhaust into a cutout and series 80 FM and Im wanting to get a smaller diameter Y-pipe since I'll be lowering the car...

In my opinion.. I don't see how a 3" y-pipe is far superior to a 2.5" y-pipe.

The way I see it is.. what is the most comming diameter for dual exhaust guys? 2.5 inch, right? And does that flow better than a single 3"? Yeah.. How many people will reccomend a dual 3" exhaust? Not many.. a lot will say it is overkill. Right?

So if that is the case.. and you have a 2.5" y-pipe.. that is basically like dual exhaust untill you hit your 3" intermediate pipe.

Weather you have a 2.5" y-pipe, or a 3" y-pipe.. they will both lead to a single 3" (in most cases) so in either case.. thats where exhaust flow will be restricted in the end.. what's before that is irrelavent. You could have a 5" y-pipe.. it's still going to hit the single 3" and be bottlenecked at that point.

I may get completely flammed for this.. but what I think makes perfect sense to me. Maybe I don't know something.. I'm not a rocket scientist. I don't know everything. I'm actually kind of curious to see what other people think.

i would think youd see a slight loss in performance.

From what ive heard though a single 3" will outflow 2 2 1/2" pipes. Didnt beleive it at frist but there was tests done and sure enough the 3" outflowed it. Dont have a link to the website though. Anyone else here see itt before, im assuming someone has.
