Re: Gmmg Sound Clips

So are you saying you don't like it? I thought it sounded really good! Let me know because I have an ory with Macs, and I was going to get in on a group purchase for GMMG on another site. Also do you have a stock motor? Or is the GMMG just that loud?

Re: Gmmg Sound Clips

Well, first of all, I think that sounds really good and makes your LT1 look & sound very unique. Sounds nothing like most LT1's I hear on the road! And even though you have no cats, it doesn't really sound "raspy" to me at all??? Definitely don't get rid of that system bro...

But I've kind of changed my tune on the GMMG some...I run it on my stock internal LS1 w/ Kooks LT's + highflow cats and used to run it on my LT1 w/ MAC mids + a highflow cat...Honestly, I just think it sounds very similar on both motors...And after hearing both of my cars from the outside, I definitely think the LS1 sounds better with the GMMG than an LT1 go figure...

Here's a great sound clip of a cammed LS1 w/ Jet Hot LT's + highflow cats & the GMMG...It sounds a little different than yours, but not much IMO...

Also FYI, a good pair of highflow cats will make the tone a little deeper and clean up the sound, but your car won't quite be as loud at WOT...I used to run no cat on my LT1 when I had the GMMG and those were the results I had once I had a Random Tech cat welded in...

2000LS1 posted a link of a nice sounding GMMG. Check out the other video from the same car in the link above. #2 (driving inside the car while going through the gears) sounds pretty good.

xx69saintx, it must have sounded different in person? Are there adjustible recording levels on your video camera? Can you use somebody else's camera?

Because it's a lil more power, and some like the sound, and some of us don't have emissions (like me )

Re: Gmmg Sound Clips

Yea most videos dont give GMMG systems the same sounds your hearing in real life. I have a LT/ORY/GMMG setup on my bolt on LT1 and it sounds very deep and muscular, with very little rasp at all. Now I dont hear it outside the car much, but this weekend my G/F took it to get some Taco Bell at 245am and I must say it rumbled pretty damn nice and she doesnt even get on it. I woudlnt trade my GMMG for any other system. I can honestly say I havent heard another F-body that sounds close to the same. I think some of the extra rasp might be your built 355, since its going to sound different than a stock motor like mine. Good luck finding the right exhaust for you, just like finding the rims you like, it might take some time. I still think it sounds damn good, very similar to mine. But each to his own, get what you like.

hehe i like how it sounds, i too think it is not raspy at all in real life, i am not sure why it came out so raspy in the video. I think i might stick with it for a little bit.
Thanks

Re: Gmmg Sound Clips

Don't worry Marcin. I've got smidget of rasp too w/ my GMMG w/out cats. The minute I put cats on though it's hella deep in the 396. But I melt the cats in under 15 mns. Granted those are my clogged cats on the FLP's I've got another set but I'm scarred it'll do the same thing. You can go bullet or do what I did. Bought this cone from summit that goes in the I-pipe that's intended for drapster's and open headers....forgot the name though. That shut it up real quick....and no rasp. Cost like 65 bucks but I'd thought I'd give it a try. They've got different sizes so you can put them on each collector from the header if you want.

Silas,
hmm, might have to try that. Hopefully they do not eat up a lot of hp to run. Do you have any clips of your car?
