GMMG install problems.

I went to install my gmmg catback this afternoon, and the hangers dont line up very well at all. The exhaust will be tucked up way too high if i slide the hangers in. I was thinking about shimming them down with some washers or something, but im not sure if it will be enough. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'd like to help but I had to fab mine to fit from an LS1 to my LT1. I just stole the stock hangers off my stock catback and bent them to fit my needs. Is it just the rear two or the third by the PHB also?

Yes its just the rear ones, the catback wants to sit way too high, and the bent peice of steel that is used on the passneger side isnt even close. Maybe its possible that i was sold the LS1 version I still have the stock catback, maybe i can rig something up.

Re: GMMG install problems.

theyre all the same
ls1, lt1, it's still the same catback
i think i do remember pulling down on the mufflers to get the tips just right (actually, just pulling on one side to get them level)
yea, i'd do what dustin said and just try the stock hangers, maybe it'll work

How much did you have to shim it, that was my original plan. Ill give it a shot.

Re: GMMG install problems.

Not sure if they are universal, but mine was used off a LS1 so I had to mod it a bit to fit the way I wanted. Originally it wanted to push the tips against the bumper. 2 Stock hangers, welding, grinding and a pry bar later, it works great. Good luck.

Thats basically what mine wants to do. i think im either going to shim the hanger, or make a bracket to let it hang lower. I dont really wanna start welding onto this beautiful catback. It really is a work of art

That sounds like mine. Ill give it a try. Im thinking of just building a little block to adapt it to make the hanger hang lower and make it work.

Re: GMMG install problems.

They sell hangers for the LT1 when buying their system. The LS1 hangers are different. Just for future reference when someone wants to buy their exhaust for the LT1. 20 bucks for the kit.
