Gmmg????

I have heard alot about this chambered exhaust and after searching the site for hrs. it seems like I haven't found anybody with this on an lt1. I looked at the website for this exhaust but it only has sound clips on the newer model camaro's. Does anyone up here have this setup and if so how does it sound? Would it be a wise decision to spend this much money for an exhaust system? I'm wondering all this because I'm a poor college kid and can't afford headers and all that stuff just want the meanest sound you can get without having to do all this work on the engine..so basically what is the best exhaust system out there?

That is what I have on my gar, with stock manifolds, and it sounds great. "braxxton" is what GMMG dubbed it when it was first introduced. As far as cost, it is expensive, but is is stainless, so it should outlast the car. I have heard great things about the SLP loudmouth which is supposed to have a mean sound as well, but is less expensive. Good luck!

Mikey,
That sounded great! I looked into the GMMG's and they say they have a 3" intermediate pipe. I read that you have FLP Lontubes, don't the FLP's have a 3" collector like the Hookers? If so, don't you feel your kinda choking your car off going from 2 3" pipes into 1 3" pipe, I was just wondering because I was thinking about getting this system, and if they accepted credit cards I would have bought it yesterday, but I know I want LT's some time in the future, and was wondering if it would be choking it or kinda like negating the use of the LT's? Actually, I think I may start a thread on this.

I live a few miles from GMMG and have a friend that works there. He has that unit on his blown 2000 WS6 and it is LOUD.....you can here him coming a 1/2 mile away when he is on it. Its the loudest unit I have ever heard bar none.

The GMMG is great if you like the old chambered sound of the late 60's. I think it is one of the better sounding wide open exhausts these days. The GMMG is not as loud as some exhausts, but it also sounds better at wide open throttle.

Actually the cats are 3" in and 2.5" out. So The Y has two 2.5" into one 3". FLPs come with straight pipes that can be swapped in to delete the cats. I haven't treied it yet, but the people who have done it said they saw no gains ... the high flow cats must flow pretty good.

FLP provides a crappy Y pipe though. It's constricted right where the I pipe starts. I had a custom Y pipe made using a Flowmaster Y. Here's a comparison of the two:

I got these four pipes welded together permanently:

I wouldn't be worried about your car "choking" on a 3" I-pipe. The question is ... how much pipe do you need? A blown stroker motor at 6000RPM may need dual exhaust to move all that air, but what about your car? Also the exhaust gasses cool down as they move through the pipes, and get denser so they don't need as much pipe toward the rear of the car. Know what I mean?
