I'd also like to know. I can't decide between the 847 and the 306.

Im runnign the 306 and let me tell you, this thing ain't as hyped up as people make it to be. Don't get me wrong, it has the power they all say but man, I wish I would have gone bigger. Go 847. I wish I did.

I'm running one in my 383 and it absolutely screams, has a great idle (drumbeat).

I shift just below 6500 with it. With the big cubes I have it makes power just off idle and stays until redline.

Re: GM847 camshaft

I've got the 847 in my 383 as well. It's more than I thought it would be. I've got a 150 wet kit that I left on there since when the engine was a 355 and I'm not sure if I'll ever be ready to try it on this set-up.

Holy crap, I can remember when running a HOTcam was the big thing, then people started saying that they wish they would have gone bigger. Then the CC306 was the big thing, and just recently I have started hearing people say they want bigger than that! Never ending quest for horsepower I guess

Because I made a mistake in listening to the pansy's saying its barely streetable. This thing feels moderate, its definatley not dinky but not what I was looking for.

Re: GM847 camshaft

I made the power in sig with it on stock heads, and its very driveable. Better than my buddy's 331 mustang with an X cam, and it makes more power! I think you COULD go bigger, but it would probably move the powerband up a bit too much. Mine peaks at 5800, and I shift at about 6400. Stock ecu will only go to 7000, and much above 6400 is stressing that stock bottom end. Great cam though.
