Gm847
I have a few questions about this cam. Ok i have a 1994 Z28 and was going to sell but now im considering keeping the car and camming it for now and then doing the heads next winter. So my question is how well does this cam work with stock heads? What kind of dyno #'s are people seeing with this cam through long tubes and catback in stalled A4 cars on stock heads. How doe people with this cam like it in their daily drivers since my Z will be daily driven in the summer. Also where can i find this cam online to buy and what other things should i install with the cam?
Re: Gm847
Cam, springs, 1.6 rockers, harden push rods, new timing set and lt4 giude plates. As far as the stock heads I don't know I'm pretty sure it would work but you would not get the full potential of the cam until you do the heads.
GM parts direct I think has it for the cheapest price

Re: Gm847
The threads are there. You just have to dig a bit.
Most of those GM847 cam only members report about 350 to 360rwhp. Unknown if it's w/ LT's or not. One member here is in the high 11's w/ an auto. Can't think of his screen name, but maybe someone will chime in...
You can buy it here:

I've only ridden in M6 cars and they've been very street friendly.
Hope this helps...

Re: Gm847
Are you looking for maximum power or driveability?
If you want a better idle, get a camshaft with a 114 or higher lsa.
I think that camshaft is a bit steep for a daily driver (234 deg intake duration). There are other options, just keep that in mind.

Re: Gm847
I went round and round trying to get my set up to live with my 4L60E and finally gave up and went with a TH400 conversion and love it. I just could not get it tuned right to quit bucking off of the converter. Others have been able to make it work, mine wouldn't. I run 11.8s the way it's set up now and that's with a pretty heavy car and a drive line that eats up a lot of power.

if you do a search ION started a thread about the street characterisc of big cams and how people complain about how the car acts while driving but they gotta have that "big lopey cam". You should check it out, the tuners along with bret and others give great advice and you can read about how that cam is gonna act along with others on the street.
