GM847 and 1.6's
I did a search so dont flame me for this question please. I want to swap out my Hotcam for the GM 847 this summer. I dont have enough money to do both heads and cam at the same time so this is my question. Can i take out the hotcam, keep the 1.6 rr's that came with the kit, put new springs in, and run that setup with stock heads until i have the money to port my heads?(Which will be about 6 - 12 months) This is what i want to do, this is the cam i want to go with, i would love any input on this. Thanks.

As long as the springs are good till over .600" you'll be fine
the exh. of the 847 w/ a 1.6rr is about .595 which is really close to .600.. so make sure you leave a lil margin there...

As far as driveability and such will i be ok on stock heads?? My brother told me to go with the 1.5's but i would rather go with more lift and stuff...... Thanks for the quick response.
Chris
1.5's to be on the safe side IMHO.. You really aren't going to gain all that much from a 1.6.. but if your spring's are upto the task.. then by all mean's go big.. As far as driveablility.. Its a big cam.. how much are you willing to put up with? thats the question...
If you got the roller rockers that came with the kit, then NO. Those rockers that came with the hotcam kit are only good up to .575 lift and the lift with GM847 is .595. So, I would suggest you go with better rockers. Correct me if I am wrong, but that is what it says on the manual that cam with my kit.
