Gm Hi-Tech Article

I'm currently looking for a cheap LT1 T/A and came across this article on high-mileage LT1s.
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ild/index.html
Whaddya think of the article? Those who've fixed up an LT1, how accurate is it? What wuddja do differently (other than the header/ cat-back mix up)? How can you tell if you timing chain is too lose?

Just wanna hear some ideas.

I remember reading that article a long time ago. It wasn't too far off base, with that mileage, replacing stuff like the optispark and timing chain aren't necessarily a bad idea. Of course, the parts they chose are completely a matter of personal taste as some of those parts are not realistic for some peoples budget, but I'm sure they don't pay for that stuff anyhow.

Magazines are more interested in ADVERTIZER dollars than anything else and are therefore poor information sources.

I've done everything they have done in that article to my 145K mile LT1..my car runs great

@ 136K miles, my Stock timing chain had a good amount of slack in it, I just replaced it with another stocker for like 100$

1.6 Rockers and LT4 valve springs made it run alot better up top
